KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee football nearly made it to fall camp without any offseason incidents.
Knoxville police arrested Vols linebacker Austin Johnson early Sunday. According to police records, he was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Johnson is scheduled to appear in court August 4.
University spokesperson Jimmy Stanton told WVLT "we're aware of an incident involving Austin. We're in the process of gathering information."
Johnson was listed as the team's starting middle linebacker on the post-spring depth chart.
Last year the Hickory, N.C. native played in all 13 games and was fourth among linebackers with 44 tackles.
Johnson arrived at Tennessee as a fullback, but after two seasons at the position switched to linebacker.
