Vols assistants get extensions, Thigpen gets raise

Knoxville, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee has given one-year extensions to the assistants on Butch Jones' football staff and has awarded linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen a $25,000 raise.

The contracts of Thigpen, offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian, defensive coordinator John Jancek, receivers coach Zach Azzanni, tight ends/special teams coach Mark Elder, running backs coach Robert Gillespie, strength coach Dave Lawson, offensive line coach Don Mahoney, secondary coach Willie Martinez and defensive line coach Steve Stripling run through Feb. 28, 2016.

Thigpen's raise means he will be making $375,000 per year. His contract also calls for the university to either provide him a courtesy vehicle or a $600 monthly vehicle allowance.

Rivals.com named Thigpen its national recruiter of the year in February after he helped Tennessee sign a class ranked in the top five by multiple services.
