Vols ready to take on top-ranked Tide

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- The Tennessee Volunteers are determined not to be intimidated by the Alabama name.

In fact, some Vols went so far as to refer to the top-ranked Crimson Tide as "the red team" going into Saturday's game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Vols might be seeing red after losing the last six games in the traditional rivalry.

Tennessee wide receiver Alton "Pig" Howard says some teams can let themselves be "mentally beat already when they step on the field" against the Tide. The Vols are determined not to let that happen to them.

Unbeaten Alabama has steamrolled its last five opponents by a combined score of 201-16.

The Vols are four-touchdown underdogs despite coming off an upset of then-No. 11 South Carolina.
