Vols DB ineligible for 2012, summer classes begin for others

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (SUBMITTED/WVLT) -- University of Tennessee head football coach Derek Dooley announced today that 12 incoming football student-athletes have enrolled in the first summer session of classes. Additionally, redshirt junior defensive back Izauea Lanier will not be eligible to participate in the 2012 season.

The 12 incoming student-athletes who are enrolled include the following:

Deion Bonner
Drae Bowles
George Bullock
Kenny Bynum
Jason Croom
Daniel Gray
Alton Howard
Justin King
LaTroy Lewis
Daniel McCullers
LaDarrell McNeil
Danny O'Brien

There are three incoming football student-athletes: Davante Bourque, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Quenshaun Watson, who are expected to enroll in the second summer session of classes.

A native of Gordo, Ala., Lanier played in all 12 games for Tennessee in 2011, starting nine. He ranked sixth on the team with 48 tackles last season and also recorded four passes defensed.
