Knoxville, (WVLT-TV), One of the tell tale signs Foootball season is just around the corner is the annual Welcome Back BBQ at Thompson-Boling Arena. The 2011 edition was held Wednesday night and Vol fans came out in force to show their Big Orange pride.
Eventhough it was just for a couple hours, the football
Vols capped off this first day of classes in an enjoyable way.
The Vols were able to mingle with the fans, sign autographs
and ofcourse talk Tennessee Football.
We did so as well with the head coach and asked him for a
mid-camp progress report. Coach Dooley told us, "...we haven't had alot of drama, these guys know the expectations and have been working their tails off."
After taking Wednesday off, the Vols resume drills Thursday morning at Haslam field.
Now also on hand Wednesday night at the Arena was UT Chancellor Jimmy Cheek. We asked the chancellor about the NCAA decision and if the school's AD search was still ongoing. He told us:"...the search is going very well, obviously we've got Joan Cronan, she's doing a great job it's taking a little longer than we anticipated, but we said at the very beginning, we're going to take our time and bring in the right person, that's what we're working on."
As for the NCAA decision Cheek told us,".. we do not know when that will come forward, we're still anticipating it will happen in August but you don't know. Until they release it, we won't have it."
