My family and I are thrilled to be back in East Tennessee. We lived here for 18 years, starting back in 1988. All three of our kids were born here while I worked in several different on air jobs at WBIR, with a little WIMZ thrown in for fun.
In 2005, we left for WXIA-TV in Atlanta, where I was both a morning and evening news anchor. But the pull of Good Ol' Rocky Top was too great and after 8 years in Georgia, we decided to move back to Knoxville.
Broadcasting has been my professional life since 1983, starting at KNAB-AM/FM in Burlington, Colorado. My first on air job was at the smallest station in the country, KLOE-TV in Goodland, Kansas. It was also where I met my wife Lesa, the best darn agriculture reporter in western Kansas! Wichita, Lawrence and Topeka, Kansas have also been work stops and I grew up in Minnesota, Idaho and British Columbia, Canada.
I'm proud to have won multiple Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow and many other journalism awards in my three-decade career.
When not at work I enjoy tennis, golf, movies, reading, church and whatever my family wants to drag me to. What drives me? Faith, family, football and travel!Working in our community is a passion for me; as a father of a son with a cancerous brain tumor, most of my efforts have focused on raising money to fight cancer and help other kids.
I am happy to be at WVLT - I've got some great teammates here at Local 8 News!
