Mike Simon is a WVLT VOLUNTEER TV Meteorologist.
Mike became one of the Volunteer TV family in September of 2010. Before moving to Knoxville, Mike lived just over the mountain in North Carolina. He was Chief Meteorologist for WLOS in Asheville/Greenville/Spartanburg for six years.
He could be seen on the 5, 5:30, 6, & 11 pm shows Monday through Friday as well as the 6:30 & 10pm shows on MY40. Mike has also worked as a Broadcast Meteorologist in several other cities including Norfolk, VA, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX, & Lake Charles, LA. Mike has worked as a Broadcast Meteorologist for over 15 years.
Mike earned his degree in Meteorology at the University of Kansas.
He has been recognized many times for his excellence in weather forecasting by receiving two Emmy awards, Best Weathercast for North Carolina, Best Weathercast for Texas, and Best Weathercast for Louisiana by the Associated Press. Mike also holds the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal of Approval from the American Meteorology Society.

In his free time, Mike enjoys raising his two children, Sica & Darwin. He also likes mountain biking, golf, working out, & hiking.
