Heather Haley is the morning Meteorologist for Local 8 News. She was born and raised in Knoxville, and says she is proud to work in her hometown.
She grew up in Cedar Bluff and went to Farragut High School, and then on to the University of Tennessee. She is proud to be All Vol!
Her husband is also from Knoxville. They have one son and two dogs, and love to spent time outdoors. They are often kayaking in the summer or just spending time in the backyard. They love to take their two adopted dogs, a husky mix and a teacup poodle, to the park. They’re also very active in their church community and youth.
Heather says growing up in East Tennessee is a benefit to a Meteorologist, because it can be difficult for others to forecast around the varying terrain. Witnessing how the Plateau, Valley, and the Smokies impact the weather is a beneficial. She says Meteorologists often refer to our region as one of the hardest to forecast, but Heather loves the challenge.
Heather can be found at community events and local schools on a regular basis. That’s where the “Ask Heather” segments started, because she found that many folks have similar questions and she wanted to bring those answers to you every week.
She also loves crafts and do-it-yourself projects. From power tools to a needle and thread, she wants to give it a shot. She even has a weekly segment with Erin Barnett on Local 8 News This Morning called “Pinspiration”, where they try out crafts, projects, and recipes.
