Heat Relief

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Although this summer has been cooler than the last, many are still sweltering this summer without an air conditioner or even a fan. Temps this week have made it back to 90 with a heat index well into the 90s.

Venus Brooks lives in Knoxville and knows all too well how hot it is getting. She has asthma so when it gets hot and more humid, it can be very difficult for her to breath. When she found out she could get a fan through the Community Action Committee of Knoxville, she contacted them immediately!

She says, "When I got it, I was absolutely excited. My husband had to walk all the way from Asheville Highway to Western and get the fan. And don't you know it, it was hot that day too, and he walked all the way back. Excuse me, I'm sweat'n now!"

There are many who still could use a fan. This is where you come in. You can donate a new or gently used fan by dropping one off at either our WVLT studio, Lexus of Knoxville, B97.5 or the CAC.
