Horses in abuse case find new homes

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- A case of animal abuse is one step closer to a happier ending.

Saturday at Chilhowee Park, at least nine of the horses seized from Vista Farms, in Knox County, earlier this month were adopted.

Those horses suffered from a variety of issues including malnourishment.

The animals were recently removed from being under quarantine.

Horse Haven of Tennessee and the Knox County Animal Control unit, has been caring for them, trying to nurse them back to health...and hoping to give them a fresh start.

Nina Margetson with Horse Haven Tennessee says,
"We've had a really good response from the general public on this and willing to help horses to take them in and give them some good homes. "

Several of the seized horses are still up for adoption.

Next month, Horse Haven plans on having another adoption event at their location in Knox County.
