Born on April 14, 1974, Shawntae Harris aka Da Brat grew up in Joliet, Illinois. The majority of her youth was spent on Chicago’s West Side. The father of Da Brat, David Ray McCoy, is an entrepreneur, and her mother, Nadine Brewer, is a former bus driver.
